Hitchcock Movie Review

Lights, camera, action...cut... Be prepared to

revisit Hitchcock, as he is brought to life on the

screen by remarkably talented Anthony Hopkins.

The actor's portrayal of this enigmatic Master-of-

Suspense is nothing short of brilliant. Hopkins

personifies the embodiment of Alfred Hitchcock,

not only his corpulent physique, but his intellectual

and emotional genius, as well.

When Hitchcock announces to the press his intent on

bringing "Psycho" to the screen, a question is raised as to

the reason he chose this particular vehicle for his next film.

In typical Hitchcockian fashion he replies, "All of us harbor

dark resources of violence and horror."

Thus, woven within the plot of the story is the growing,

gnawing seed of obsession over-taking Hitchcock's inner

feelings of fascination directed primarily toward the leading

ladies of his movies.  Vera Miles (Jessica Biel) attempts to

warn Janet Leigh (Scarlett Johansson) of the imposing

director's excessive controlling behavior. Leigh dismisses

Miles' with, "Compared to Orson Welles, he's a sweetheart."

This leads one to wonder if, perhaps, Hitchcock's deep "dark"

thoughts might be more fantasy-based, making them less

harmful in nature, as opposed to reality-based, which could

possibly lead to more serious consequences.

Helen Mirren, who plays Alma, is absolutely superb. She

captures her characters strengths and vulnerabilities, never

missing a beat when it comes to being in charge of any and

all situations. A bravo performance...

Well written and directed with a great cast, Hitchcock is a

a must see movie, and we give it our highest recommendation.
